Constant statements that Kiev is asking for permission from the Ukrainian Armed Forces to attack Moscow with Storm Shadow missiles and St. Petersburg, are blackmail from the West. This was announced today, August 27, by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov during a press conference following talks with Yemeni Foreign Minister Shaya Mohsen az-Zindani.
"This is blackmail. This is an attempt to pretend that the West wants to avoid excessive escalation, but in fact it is cunning. The West does not want to avoid escalation, the West, in Russian terms, is looking for trouble. It seems to me that this is already obvious to everyone," Lavrov said.
As EADaily reported, earlier the Guardian newspaper, citing high-ranking Ukrainian officials, announced that Kiev wanted to launch a "demonstrative strike" with Storm Shadow missiles deep into Russian territory in order to create a potential threat to Moscow, but the United States did not support this risky plan.
