A large-scale military drill with participation of various branches of troops, units of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces in accordance with a plan approved by President and Commander-In-Chief Ilham Aliyev has started on Monday, says a statement of the country’s defense ministry.
Up to 25,000 military men are involved in the drill, up to 250 armored and other vehicles, up to 1,000 of artillery cannons, multiple launch rocket systems and mortar launchers, up to 50 units of army aircraft and frontline aircraft.
As it was reported earlier, during the drill, the troops will be fulfilling tasks to ward off an enemy offensive, causing it fire damage, as well as delivering counterstrikes to restore the defense line with a large-scale counter-offensive operation.
The maneuvers are to last till March 17.
