The head of Lugansk People’s Republic Igor Plotnitsky has announced his resignation.
The decision was reportedly made due to his health condition. National Security Minister Leonid Pasechnik is appointed acting head of the republic. He will be taking the post till the coming elections.
“Igor Plotnitsky has sent in his resignation today due to poor health conditions. He has been suffering from numerous old injuries and effects of concussion. In accordance with his decision I am taking the post of the head of the republic right up to the coming elections,” LuganskInformCenter quotes Pasechnik as saying.
The new LPR leader said he would stick to the Minsk Agreements, assuring that the republic would be consistent in fulfilling its obligations under the agreements.
Pasechnik said that the Council of Ministers, the People’s Council and other governing institutions will continue functioning as usually. He promised to do his best to serve Lugansk people’s wealth.
