Uralvagonzavod (UVZ) Research and Production Corporation is establishing a joint venture with Chinese manufacturers of bearings, TASS reports referring to a source familiar with the negotiation process.
“Uralvagonzavod is nearing completion of talks to establish a joint venture with Chinese manufacturers of bearings for wheel pairs of freight cars,” the source reports.
High demand for rolling stock emerged in the second half of 2016 making producers diversify supplies of spare parts and ramp up production.
UVZ told EADaily that the corporation has a positive experience of cooperation with Chinese manufacturers. During the carriage making market boom in 2010-2012, UVZ launched import of car casting from China and raised production of cars to nearly 28,000. The corporation does not name the Chinese company that will be supplying bearings.
In Russia, the only manufacturers of bearings are EPK Group and the localized production shop of SKF.
Uralvagonzavod JSC is a Russian corporation engaged in design and production of military equipment, road-construction machinery, and railway carriages.
Uralvagonzavod is a 100% government-owned company that heads the integrated structure incorporating more than 20 industrial enterprises, research institutes and design bureaus.
