During their meeting in Moscow on Dec 23 Russian and Armenian Defense Ministers Sergey Shoygu and Seyran Ohanyan signed an agreement on a unified regional air defense system in the Caucasus Collective Security Region.
The press service of Russia’s Defense Ministry quotes Shoygu as saying that Russia is conducting a large-scale anti-terror operation in Syria and thanked Armenia’s Defense Ministry for the words of support after the death of Russian pilots in Syria.
“It was an act of treason. We did not expect such actions from people posing themselves as participants in the anti-ISIL campaign,” Shoygu said.
The ministers discussed military cooperation plans for 2016 and the work done in 2015. According to Shoygu, all the tasks scheduled for this year have been fulfilled.
Ohanyan thanked Shoygu for fruitful military-technical cooperation.
“Due to your support 2015 was a special year for us. All of the plans of our military cooperation have been fulfilled,” the Armenian defense minister said.
