Separatists can still break out in five regions of Ukraine, in addition to the Lugansk and Donets regions, new Chief of Ukraine’s Security Service Vasyl Hrytsak has told a news conference.
“I can say for sure that the flash points are Odessa, Kharkov, Zaporozhye, Kherson and Nikolayev regions,” Hrytsak said. He assured media that the security services are taking “preventive measures” in those regions.
Hrytsak said Ukraine’s Security Service conducted more than 15 searches simultaneously in Odessa and Nikolayev regions on Sunday morning and confiscated explosives. “We trace both direct and indirect contacts of the perpetrators with the organizers of those explosions in the given territories and their Russian bosses,” he said.
As EADaily reported earlier, on July 2, 340 Ukrainian MPs approved Vasily Hrytsak as a new chief of Ukraine’s Security Service. Previously, he was the chief of the Security Service’s Anti-Terror Center. In early May, Ukraine’s Security Service conducted a large-scale special operation in Odessa region wherein several groups mulling explosions on important infrastructure facilities were detained.
