Azerbaijan launched large-scale operative and tactical maneuvers involving all branches of Azerbaijan’s Armed Forces on February 2. The maneuvers are conducted at the instruction of President Ilham Aliyev. Defense Minister, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov and Chief of General Staff, Colonel General Nacmaddin Sadikov are in command of the exercises, Trend reports referring to the Defense Ministry.
The exercises involve nearly 15,000 soldiers, around 20 military jets, as well as missile launchers and up-to-date anti-aircraft defense systems.
On the instruction of the supreme commander of Azerbaijan, up to five thousand of reservists and nearly 300 armored vehicles are involved in the maneuvers to test the efficiency of fulfillment of the full military mobilization tasks.
