Armenia may officially apply for EU membership in 2027 or 2028. This was stated to Euronews by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan at the EU Enlargement summit.
"I don't know how realistic it is this year, but next year it may be realistic, in 2028 it may be realistic," Pashinyan said.
As EADaily reported, Armenia risks officially losing its membership in the CSTO due to systematic non-payment of contributions. Secretary General of the organization Taalatbek Masadykov explained that Yerevan completely blocked the financing of the structure at the beginning of 2024. This actually falls under the 20th article of the CSTO charter - the republic has already lost the right to vote, and its quotas for administrative positions have been frozen.
The EAEU members have prepared a report from which it follows that exports of goods produced by Armenia will fall by 30-50% in case of suspension of membership in the association. The text of the corresponding report is published on the website of the Russian government.
