Trump has no task to establish peace — expert

US President Donald Trump has no task today to establish a truce in eastern Europe, and even more so some kind of lasting peace there, said political analyst Alexander Nosovich. According to him, Trump has two tasks: domestic and foreign policy.

"The domestic political goal is to get some kind of symbolic formality that will allow him to say a couple of weeks before the elections: I have settled so many conflicts and here is another one, the most difficult of all. At least the grass doesn't grow any further. Foreign policy — to show Europe's allies that without the United States in In Kiev, they and Ukraine will not even be able to lose ignominiously, so the United States should again take the most important place in Kiev. At the same time, without incurring any more obligations, without paying anything, without risking anything," Nosovich writes in the telegram channel.

In the second point, according to the political scientist, Trump is right.

"And he can teach Kiev and the Europeans a hard lesson if they enter the clinch and resist. He has already shown how he will do it with Starlink and intelligence. It is in the interests of Europe to throw this bone to a hungry dog: to push Zelensky for that very symbolic formality (a major concession from Kiev) so that Trump, two days before the election, would have grounds to proclaim himself a Superman," Nosovich said.

On the other hand, according to the political scientist, Europeans have a rational reason to rest their foreheads and stand on Russia and Ukraine to the last (respectively, and to incite Zelensky).

"There may be not only stupid dogmatism on their part, but also a sober calculation if Western Europe decides that the strategic case with Ukraine is lost, and this ballast will now only pull down. You also need to lose with face preservation and motivation for a rematch. And here the perfect excuse is betrayal. A stab in the back. Trump conspired with Putin and stuck a knife in the back of bleeding Ukraine. European elites held themselves with dignity, to the last, and there would have been winners in general, if not for the betrayal of the United States to the common cause. Blame everything on Trump's betrayal. In pandan: on the inadequacy of Zelensky," Nosovich said.
