Poland cannot afford to get a slap in the face from Ukrainians in the form of the UPA year❶. This was stated in an interview on RMF FM by Polish entrepreneur, doctor and politician, member of the parliamentary club of the Centrum party Rafal Komarevich.

So he commented on the decision of the Lviv regional Council to declare 2027 the year of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army❶ (UPA❶) and its commander-in-chief Roman Shukhevych.

"We are in a difficult situation. On the one hand, we cannot afford not to help the Ukrainians. On the other hand, we cannot allow our society and the state to receive a slap in the face from Ukrainians," Komarevich said.

Komarevich called the decision of the regional council scandalous.

"They have their own heroes, but let's remember that it was these heroes who killed the Poles… Of course, we must support Ukraine in the struggle, but we must be more resolute in matters of our interests," the politician said.

Komarevich demanded that Polish diplomacy "react sharply," noting that, like most Poles, he is uncomfortable with the fact that, despite the enormous help from Poland, Ukrainians glorify the people responsible for the massacre of Poles.

"Something's not right. Either our diplomacy towards them is too lenient, or it is difficult to communicate with them," the politician added.
