NATO expressed dissatisfaction with the statement of the European Commissioner for Defense and Space, Andrius Kubilius, who called on the Alliance to respond to possible Russian strikes on European weapons factories.

According to Politico, as such a "retaliatory measure", the European bureaucrat proposed activating Article 5 of the NATO Charter, which enshrines the principle of collective defense.

One of the diplomats of the North Atlantic Alliance told the agency that the European Commissioner had gone beyond his own powers by making such statements.

"When Kubilius becomes NATO Secretary General, he may be able to determine what causes and what does not cause the application of the Fifth Article," the source said.

As reported by EADaily, earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the moment when nothing can be changed can come very quickly and unexpectedly for everyone. It turns out that the logic of increasing mutual harsh responses leads to fatal irreversibility.
