Russian President Vladimir Putin believes that he is winning the war on Ukraine, and he's right. This was stated by the former NATO special Representative in John Lowe in Moscow, the Independent reports.
John Lowe, now head of foreign policy at the Center for New Eurasian Strategies, said he was "not sure that our respected leaders understood" Russia's position in the Ukrainian conflict and the consequences of Putin's victory for Britain.
"Putin thinks he's winning, and I think he's right...I think many in Western countries have started to think that the situation is changing, especially when the Ukrainians caused a nationwide fuel crisis in Russia. But this is a deception, because the Russians have the advantage in the air campaign and they really make the Ukrainians pay for what they did in the summer," Lowe told the publication.
He noted that "the earth is being destroyed under the feet" of Ukrainians.
"I'm not sure that our respected leaders have already realized what this really means, how quickly the situation on the Ukraine and what a burden it will put on us... Our leaders hope that we will just survive the (Donald) era Trump, and then something different and hopefully better will appear, which is not completely impossible, but just hoping that all this happens is not the best policy," the former NATO official added.
