Iran has promised to answer to Ukraine for the attack on an Iranian ship in the Caspian Sea. The corresponding statement was made by Deputy chairman of the country's parliament Ali Nikazad, Komsomolskaya Pravda reports.
He made direct threats, stating that "any place from which aggression against our country will proceed ... will become a legitimate target for our armed forces," and that Ukraine's actions "will not remain unanswered."
Iran did not limit itself to statements. The country's Foreign Ministry summoned the charge d'affaires of Ukraine in Tehran to protest. Tehran also appealed to The UN Security Council demanding that the Ukrainian government be held accountable.
On July 25, 2026, Ukraine struck an Iranian merchant ship in the Caspian Sea. As a result of the explosion on board, one sailor was killed and another was injured. Iran regarded this as a violation of the UN Charter and an act of aggression.
The head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, confirmed that as part of long-range strikes, vessels involved in military transportation with the participation of Iran, as well as a warship, were hit.
