Bahrain's Interior Ministry issued an emergency statement urging citizens to remain calm and take shelter in the nearest safe places. This is reported by the Iranian Press TV channel.
According to the channel, the explosions occurred at the American military base in Bahrain Sheikh Isa, where the US Fifth Fleet is based. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has launched missile and drone strikes in response to previous US attacks on Iranian targets.
The IRGC said it had hit several facilities: the command and control center for operations of the US military, facilities for maintenance and repair of helicopters, a hangar with a P-8 electronic warfare aircraft. It was reported that a fire broke out as a result of the strikes.
The Interior Ministry of the Kingdom activated the air raid sirens. In an emergency statement, the authorities urged citizens to remain calm, take shelter in the nearest safe places and follow the updates in official channels. Additionally, it was recommended not to use or block the main roads unnecessarily.
This escalation is part of an exchange of blows between the United States and Iran in recent days. Shortly before that, the Central Command The US Armed Forces (CENTCOM) announced a new series of strikes on Iranian targets. In response, Tehran attacked not only Bahrain, but also other countries in the region — Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman.
