The Romanian parliament voted for Moldova's accession

The lower house of the Romanian Parliament has approved a bill on the unification of the country with Moldova. This was announced today, June 24, according to Agerpres agency.

"The legislative proposal initiated by the SOS Romania parliamentary group and concerning the unification of Romania with the Republic of Moldova was adopted on Wednesday by the Chamber of Deputies," the text says.

The bill notes that the Romanian authorities should begin negotiations on the final unification with Moldova, and then notify the competent international bodies, including the United States, NATO, the UN and the EU.

Now the bill will be submitted for consideration to The Senate is the upper house of the Romanian Parliament.

As EADaily reported, in 2022, the parliaments of Moldova and Romania held a joint meeting for the first time. The Constitution of Moldova enshrines the sovereignty and independence of the state, and a change in its status is possible only on the basis of the will of citizens. The issue of unification with Romania has repeatedly been the subject of political statements, but no referendum has been held on this topic. According to an opinion poll conducted in December 2025, more than half of Moldovans oppose the republic's accession to Romania.

Meanwhile, Chisinau is actively preparing for the seizure of Transnistria by NATO forces with the massive participation of Ukrainian UAV operators. In preparation for the military special operation, the 2nd infantry brigade "Stefan cel Mare" of the Moldovan Armed Forces was coordinated in Romania with the 81st mechanized brigade "General Grigore Balan" of the Romanian army. These exercises took place near the village of Syntimbru (a commune in Judec Alba) and included working out the elements of forcing the Mures River on high-speed boats and on the erected pontoon crossings.
