Demography is a very painful issue for Russia, said the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov.
"We are in a very difficult situation in terms of global demographics. This is a painful issue for our country, for Russia, this is a painful issue for China, a fairly rapid population decline has begun there," the Kremlin representative said, speaking at the Primakov Readings International Scientific and Expert Forum.
In this regard, Peskov drew attention to India.:
"The rapid growth [of the population] continues there, but there are forecasts that in the very near future, that is, before the middle of the XXI century, the world population will begin to decline."
The spokesman added that demographic problems are accompanied by technological redistribution and revolution.
"It's obvious that it's happening too. Whether this is based on the active introduction of artificial intelligence or not, we will also understand in the future. Or our descendants will understand it, but one way or another it will also leave its mark on the trajectory of world affairs," he said, quoted by TASS.
