Two former Chinese defense ministers have been sentenced to death. This is reported by the Xinhua news agency.
According to the agency, two former defense ministers of China — Wei Fenghe and Li Shangfu — were sentenced by a military court to death with a two-year suspended sentence on corruption charges.
Wei Fenghe (served as Minister of Defense from 2018 to 2023) and Li Shangfu (Wei's successor, served in 2023).
Wei Fenghe was found guilty of taking bribes. Li Shangfu — in receiving and giving bribes.
Both former ministers are deprived of political rights for life, and all their personal property is subject to confiscation.
