On the night of Saturday, March 14, an explosion occurred at a Jewish school in Amsterdam. According to authorities, the explosive device went off at night at a building in the southern part of the city.
As the local newspaper AD reported today, the police and firefighters promptly arrived at the scene. It was established that the explosion caused limited damage to property, no information was received about the victims.
Amsterdam Mayor Femke Halsema said that the incident is considered as a targeted attack on the Jewish community.
"This is a cowardly act of aggression against the Jewish community. I understand the fear of the Jews in Amsterdam. They are increasingly faced with anti—Semitism, and this is unacceptable," said the mayor.
She stressed that Amsterdam should be a safe place for Jews, and any school should be a place where children can be taught safely.
Earlier, EADaily reported that at least 30 law enforcement officers were taken to the hospital after the shooter attacked a synagogue in Michigan.
