Gas reserves in the UK may be enough for about one and a half to two days of consumption. It is reported by the British The Telegraph with reference to the data of the operator of the National Gas gas transmission system.

According to the operator, stocks decreased from 18 thousand GWh a year ago to 6,700 GWh — this is about 1.5 days of demand, unlike other European countries, where stocks are designed for several weeks. A comparable amount of fuel is also stored in the form of LNG.

It is noted that the UK is now paying the highest wholesale gas prices in Europe, as supplies from the Middle East are drying up.

In recent years, some of the gas storage facilities have been closed, although previously Britain could store reserves for about 12 days of consumption, the publication says. According to National Gas, now the storage facilities are filled at about 18% of the previous capacity, and the tanks with liquefied gas are slightly more than half, writes "Время.иа ".

As stated in the bank Goldman Sachs, in the absence of signs of settlement, oil prices may exceed $ 100 per barrel as early as next week. At the same time, the British may face simultaneously an increase in energy tariffs, an increase in mortgage rates and a rise in the price of goods due to supply chain disruptions, economist Mohamed El-Erian warned.
