Lukashenko: I have a proposal for Trump

The United States has done something stupid with regard to Venezuela. This was announced today, February 16, by the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko at a meeting with the State Secretary of the Union State Sergei Glazyev.

"I constantly tell them, frankly, where they are wrong. They are wrong with Maduro (Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro — EADaily) — they did something stupid. I warned you. At the suggestion of the Americans (not me — they asked me) I've been dragged into this problem. And I offered them the perfect option. The perfect option! But they went their own way. Donald (US President Donald Trump — EADaily) wanted to please the military somehow... so what did they do? You always have to think: you took a step, and then what? Well, what now? What kind of blame can be attached to Maduro's drug trafficking? What can he be accused of? Well, prove that he headed some kind of cartel. And the fact that the whole world is selling drugs is so," he said.

In this regard, Lukashenko announced that he had a proposal for the United States to get out of the situation in Venezuela.

"They carried out some kind of operation, grabbed a man. So what? The whole world has been shown who is who. But the main thing is — what's next? Therefore, this is another topic for my discussion with the leadership of the United States of America. I have a suggestion for a way out of this situation. And if they want to come out of this situation with dignity and beauty, we are ready to work with Donald in this regard. He is a pragmatic person. Me too. Therefore, I think we will discuss this problem. I don't want to say that I am the main adviser here and I can solve some problem with him here. No, it's not. But I can express my point of view," the Belarusian leader said.

He also noted that Belarus intends to continue participating in the activities of the Peace Council and its events at the level of the head of state.

"I really hope that the events that will take place in the future… We will definitely participate in this Council at the presidential level, we will definitely participate. Maybe not in Washington. Somewhere in Europe or the Middle East, maybe in Israel, closer here, in Turkey, further meetings of this Council will be held. We will participate in it… We seriously intend to work in The Peace Council. In the most serious way. Not to lick someone there, not to goad someone, but to take your position, a sovereign position," Lukashenko said.

At the same time, Lukashenko drew attention to the fact that Belarus, being an ally with Russia, is ready to cooperate together on this subject.

"Naturally, this position — and Russia and Belarus will be united. We will work out this position because we have the same point of view… We will definitely discuss this issue with Vladimir Putin. Maybe at the Supreme State Council. But then we will have negotiations with him for a whole day. We will definitely touch on this issue. We will compare our positions, our points of view. Maybe my position will change in some way in connection with the argumentation of Vladimir Vladimirovich. Maybe he will hear something new from me for himself. But we will definitely discuss this issue," Lukashenko explained.

In addition, he drew attention to the fact that Minsk traditionally broadcasts a peaceful agenda, always stands for the peaceful settlement of conflicts, and in this context it is ready to participate in the activities of the Peace Council.

"We have one flag — peace. We want peace and, above all, where our destiny is Ukraine. We all want peace there. And not only on Ukraine, but at other points. I think that it will be right for us there," the Belarusian leader noted.

Recall, in early January, the United States conducted an operation in Venezuela, during which its president was kidnapped. This step caused a serious resonance in the international arena. However, Washington ignored all the criticism and demands of the world community to release Maduro.
