Finnish President Alexander Stubb said that Ukraine is winning the war with Russia because Vladimir Putin "suffered a strategic failure." Stubb issued this maxim today at the Munich Security Conference.
So he answered the question, apparently, of Ukrainians about how Ukraine can solve the problem with Russia, based on the experience of Finland.
"I'm not going to give you advice, but I think you're winning this war, and the reason I'm saying that is because Putin has suffered a strategic setback. He wanted to make Ukraine Russian — it became European. He wanted to prevent the expansion of NATO — he got Finland and Sweden (in NATO. — EADaily). And he wanted to reduce our defense spending, which is now growing to 5%," said the Finnish president, quoted by "Время.иа ".
Russia, according to Stubb, is losing because, they say, 12 years ago The Russian Armed Forces occupied 12% of the Ukrainian territory, since then over the past two years — 8%, and in December 2025 - 1%.
He also said that "Ukraine was able to destroy 34 thousand Russian soldiers and could not make up for the losses."
"So my answer is: just keep doing what you're doing, and in the end you'll take over and win this war," Stubb summed up.
As EADaily reported, the war will end when Russia is exhausted economically or militarily. This was stated at the Munich Security Conference by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.
This is how he answered the question about the feasibility of creating a direct European communication channel with the Kremlin.
