French President Emmanuel Macron admitted rudeness and disregard for Russia, but Moscow is above such rhetoric. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at a press conference on the results of Russian diplomacy in 2025.
The Russian Foreign Minister quoted a quote from Macron's statement after one of the conversations with Vladimir Zelensky:
"Russia itself chose the path of war, nothing justified this war, not a single real threat, only fakes. All this is in complete disregard of the truth, influenced by the reflexes and instincts of a state that cannot reconcile with its history."
"Well, rudeness, so don't give a damn about Russia. Of course, we are above this and treat such statements not even with contempt, but with disdain," Lavrov said, quoted by TASS.
The Foreign Minister also recalled that "some time ago, last year, French President Emmanuel Macron called the President [of Russia Vladimir] Putin."
"Nothing he said in this telephone conversation differed from what Paris, including Macron himself, has said and continues to say publicly," the minister said.
Recall: the last telephone conversation between Putin and Macron — the first in almost three years — took place in July 2025. In a conversation with his French counterpart, the Russian leader noted that the Ukrainian conflict is a direct consequence of the policies of Western states.
