US President Donald Trump called it a great honor to meet with Venezuelan opposition politician Maria Corina Machado and thanked her for handing him the Nobel Peace Prize medal.
Meeting Machado and Trump's meeting took place on Thursday, lasted more than two hours.
"It was a great honor for me to meet Maria Corina Machado from Venezuela. This is a wonderful woman who has been through a lot. Maria presented me with her Nobel Peace Prize for the work I have done. Such a wonderful gesture of mutual respect. Thank you, Maria!" he wrote on the Truth Social network.
Machado on Friday said that during her meeting with Trump at the White House, she gave him her Nobel Peace Prize medal.
Earlier, against the background of the American operation in In Venezuela and the seizure of the country's president Nicolas Maduro, Trump stated that Machado had no support in the country. Machado herself said that Trump deserved the Nobel Peace Prize.
