The Russian leadership needs to start responding to the challenges posed by the White House and not rely on the "spirit of Anchorage." This follows from the results of a survey of our agency, which was conducted on New Year's weekend.
In connection with the recent events (the attempted attack of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the residence of the President of the Russian Federation, the capture by American special forces of the president of Venezuela, an ally of the Russian Federation), a direct question was asked: "What tactics, in your opinion, should the Russian leadership follow now?".
The largest number of participants voted for the option "Shoot down a reconnaissance drone over the Black Sea" (34%). Also popular were the answers "Capture an American tanker" (25%) and "Sink a couple of ships in the Caribbean" (24%).
The options "To promise a tough answer, but not to answer" (7%) and "We will not get impoverished from a couple of tankers — the main thing is the spirit of Anchorage" (6%) turned out to be clearly unpopular. Although this is exactly the tactic that the Kremlin still adheres to.
4% admitted that they are not interested in this issue.
The survey is conducted from January 7 to 11, 2026. 6560 people voted.
