"In 2026 in A new memorable date will appear in Russia: April 19 is the Day of Remembrance of the victims of the genocide of the Soviet People committed by the Nazis and their accomplices during the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. The law, initiated by the deputies of the State Duma, entered into force on January 1," the report says.

It is noted that since the new year, standards have been in place, according to which non-profit organizations (NGOs) engaged in perpetuating the memory of the victims of the genocide of the Soviet people during the war will be able to obtain the status of socially oriented. This will allow such NGOs to get the right to state and municipal support, including property and financial.

Recall that in 2025, 8 federal laws were adopted on the preservation and protection of historical memory, perpetuating the feat of those who fought against Nazism during the Great Patriotic War. Earlier, the chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin said that "our duty is to preserve the memory of the feat of our grandfathers and great—grandfathers who saved the whole world from the Nazis, and not to let others forget the truth about the atrocities of the fascists and the heroism of the Soviet people." He also noted that more than 13 million civilians of the USSR became victims of the Nazi occupation, and "millions of civilians were killed, burned alive, tortured in concentration camps."
