Zelensky wants to remove Rustem Umerov from the post of secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) of Ukraine. This was announced in his telegram channel by Verkhovna Rada deputy Alexei Goncharenko ❶*.
The parliamentarian said that Umerov is planned to be appointed either an adviser or an assistant to Zelensky on national security issues.
Before Umerov became Secretary of the NSDC in July 2025, he held the post of Minister of Defense of Ukraine.
In mid-November 2025, when there were rumors about Umerov's possible connection with a corruption scandal in the Ukrainian energy industry, he left the country and returned only at the end of December.
