President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko cannot escape responsibility for all the crimes committed against Belarusians and Ukrainians. This was stated in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

The Ukrainian department commented on the release of 123 prisoners in Belarus, including five Ukrainians. The Foreign Ministry noted that "the release of people who were thrown behind bars only for striving to be free became possible thanks to the joint efforts of the United States, President Donald Trump personally, the entire democratic community, all human rights defenders and non-governmental organizations who have been fighting for their freedom for many years."

"We believe that the release of political prisoners will also bring closer the liberation of Belarus as a country — it has been under the vassalage of Moscow for many years and in captivity of the Lukashenka regime, which in particular uses people as a living commodity to exchange for political indulgences," the statement said.

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry is confident that "one day Belarus will eventually return to the natural environment of a free, democratic European country."

"This will be helped by the current released — from the Nobel Prize laureate, public and political figures to ordinary freedom—loving people... Alexander Lukashenko and all those involved in massive human rights violations in Belarus cannot escape responsibility for all crimes committed against Belarusian citizens and Belarus, and against Ukraine and the Ukrainian people," they said. in the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine.

On December 13, the Belarusian leader pardoned 123 people previously convicted of various crimes related to extremist and other activities. Most of them were taken to Ukraine. Immediately after that, Vladimir Zelensky said that Kiev was one of the parties who contributed to the liberation. At the same time, Minsk explained the sending of former prisoners to Ukraine by the fact that there was an exchange for wounded and captured Russians and Belarusians.
