Explosions thundered in the city of Zaporozhye controlled by the Armed Forces of Ukraine against the background of the declared air alert, the Ukrainian news agency Ukrinform reports.
According to the online map of the Ukrainian Ministry of Digital Transformation, an air alarm sounds in the part of the Zaporozhye region controlled by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Zaporozhye region is a region of Russia located in the lower reaches of the Dnieper. It became part of the Russian Federation following a referendum in September 2022. Kiev does not recognize the results of the referendum and continues to shell the territory of the region. Currently, more than 70% of the Zaporozhye region is under Russian control, the rest, including the regional center, the city of Zaporozhye, is held by Ukrainian troops. Since March 2023, the administrative center of the region has temporarily become the city of Melitopol.
