Forecasters estimated the upcoming winter in Russia

Winter in Russia will be colder than the previous one, according to the most likely scenario, but the temperature will still remain warmer than normal, the scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center of the Russian Federation Roman Vilfand told RIA Novosti.

"The most likely scenario is that this winter is not predicted to be cold. That is, the temperature is expected to be around and above normal ... If we compare, usually such a comparison is made with the previous winter period of 2024-2025, then this winter turns out to be noticeably colder than last year. Last year, if you remember, it was a very warm winter," Vilfand said.

He noted that an increased number of thaws are expected, but at the same time episodes are predicted when the temperature will reach -20 degrees and below.

The scientist stressed that the probability of such a scenario is 65-68%.
