China has announced the discovery of "irrefutable evidence" of US cyber attacks. It is assumed that the US National Security Agency is behind them. Details are provided by Bloomberg.
According to a statement published on Sunday, October 19, in the official account of the Ministry of State Security of China in WeChat, the US National Security Agency (NSA) should start exploiting the security vulnerabilities of mobile phones of some employees of the National Time Service Center starting from March 25, 2022. It is assumed that Americans use this channel to obtain confidential information.
The ministry said that US intelligence "has repeatedly used stolen credentials to hack into computers" of the Chinese Time Center since April 18, 2023. According to the information on the institution's website, it is responsible, among other things, for the creation, maintenance and transmission of the national time standard (Beijing time) and "operation of the long-wave and short-wave communication system, which belongs to the most important scientific and technical infrastructures of the country."
The source also claims that it is a "key national center" providing, among other things, "high-precision services to the government and various industries."
