Today, the decision to provide Kiev with Tomahawk looks like a path to an unlimited missile war against Russia, from which it will be even more difficult to find a way out. This was stated by Senator Alexei Pushkov.
"The issue is being discussed both in the USA and in Europe, and, of course, in Russia. However, in the West, mainly the political decision itself is being publicly discussed — to give or not to give, but not the issues that should actually be discussed, and not the consequences of such supplies (if any). And in vain, because there are very serious, I would say critical, questions about Tomahawk," Pushkov writes in his telegram channel.
Firstly, according to him, it is unclear where these missiles will be launched from — from American or European warships and offshore platforms. Ukraine does not have the appropriate ships and platforms. Secondly, it is not clear who will direct the missiles at the targets and control them. Since the APU cannot do this, therefore, the Americans will do it. There are a number of other questions: what are the intended targets that these missiles will hit with a range of 2,500 km, how many Tomahawks do the US want to sell to Europe for Kiev, and what, in fact, does US President Donald Trump want to achieve if he decides to transfer Tomahawk anyway?
"So far, the decision to provide Tomahawk to Ukraine looks like a path to an unlimited missile war against Russia and to even greater bitterness, from which it will be even more difficult to find a way out. Has Donald Trump thought about this?" he sums up.
As reported by EADaily, the supply of Tomahawk cruise missiles to Kiev will be a serious round of escalation, since they can carry nuclear warheads. This was announced on October 7 by the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov.
