In Germany, unknown persons fired pyrotechnics at a Bundeswehr transport plane taking off from an airbase. This is reported by Der Spiegel magazine, citing sources.
A fireworks rocket was fired at the C-130 aircraft shortly after departure from the Celle air base in Lower Saxony, the newspaper writes. The incident occurred on September 26. The police have opened a case of "dangerous interference in air traffic," and the Bundeswehr is also investigating.
"According to preliminary data, the missile was about 500 meters from the plane. Since the incident occurred in the afternoon, it cannot be ruled out that the pyrotechnics were released intentionally, the interlocutors of Der Spiegel noted," the DW* main telegram channel notes.
As stated by Der Spiegel in the Bundeswehr, such incidents occur extremely rarely, but cases of blinding pilots with laser pointers are regularly recorded.
