A mysterious explosion occurred in the sky over China, netizens suggested that it was about "shooting down a UFO," according to Yangcheng Evening News.
The phenomenon was observed on September 12 over the cities of Weifang, Rizhao and other environs of Shandong Province in the east of the country.
"Many netizens posted videos in which they claimed to have witnessed a "UFO downing" and heard two loud noises," the material says.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing a bright, torch-like point of light moving at high speed across the night sky. Its trajectory formed a distinct parabola, significantly exceeding the speed of a conventional aircraft.
"Two light beams crossed in the air and instantly exploded, causing a powerful flash and two deafening blows, from which some residents slightly shook the windows," the material says.
The Weifang Emergency Management Bureau said it had not received any information on the incident, urging it to wait for official notifications.
