The government of Francois Bayrou was overthrown, the deputies of the French National Assembly did not express confidence in him. This is reported by BFMTV.
"Having gained 364 votes against the vote of confidence, Francois Bayrou suffered a crushing defeat… The prime minister, who was supposed to get the majority of votes, received only 194 votes in favor and 364 votes against," the TV channel reports.
It is noted that 573 out of 589 deputies came to the vote and 558 spoke out. 15 deputies abstained.
In accordance with Article 50 of the French Constitution, the prime minister must submit a letter of resignation from his government to President Emmanuel Macron. According to BFMTV, he will do it tomorrow.
According to the founder of the Unconquered France party, Jean-Luc Melenchon, after the fall of the Bayrou government, Macron should "also leave."
"Macron is now on the front line in front of the people. He should leave too," the politician writes on the social network X.
Recall that the vote was held against the background of an unpopular austerity budget aimed at reducing the national debt.
