Statements by the head of the European diplomacy Kai Kallas about distrust of agreements with Russia reflect the "degradation of foreign policy methods" of Brussels, said Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
"Here is Kaya Kallas, by the way, she is considered the chief diplomat in the European Union, the high representative for all sorts of external issues — she said after the Washington meeting that the European Union would not trust any agreements with the Russian Federation, so the European Union would continue to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the European Union would promote new sanctions against Russia, regardless of agreements that she does not believe," the minister said at a press conference.
"But this is not diplomacy, this is already the degradation of foreign policy methods, which, in fact, the European Union boils down exclusively to sanctions," the head of Russian diplomacy said.
As Lavrov stressed, among the instruments of foreign policy in the arsenal of Brussels there is still "direct theft, as happened with the gold and foreign exchange reserves of the Russian Federation."
"That's why I don't see European diplomacy. By the way, I don't see this diplomacy in many other areas either," Lavrov stated, quoted by TASS.
EADaily adds: after virtual communication with the leaders of the European Union countries, during which the results of the summit of US President Donald Trump with Vladimir Zelensky and European leaders in Washington were discussed, Callas said that the EU would continue to exert active pressure on the Russian military economy, and the next package of sanctions against The RF should be ready by September.
"Unity of leaders The EU at today's virtual summit was tangible. Everyone is committed to a lasting peace that protects the vital security interests of both Ukraine and Europe. The EU will continue to target Russia's military economy. The next package of sanctions against Moscow should be ready by next month," Kallas argued in her post on the social network X, stressing that these issues will be in the spotlight at the upcoming meeting of EU foreign and defense ministers.
