In the Spanish resort of Mallorca, negative sentiments towards the Germans are growing.
The slogans "Germans out!", "Go to hell!", written in red spray, are visible on dozens of shops owned by Germans, as well as on cars with foreign license plates.
"This is an expression of the disappointment of Majorcan residents due to mass tourism and foreign (mostly German) property buyers, which leads to a shortage of housing and rising prices," Welt clarifies.
The town of Santagni is located on the southeastern coast of the island and is considered a place especially popular among Germans. Many owners of holiday homes have their own real estate there, and some shops are run by Germans. As a result, thousands of demonstrators regularly take to the streets to protest the housing crisis.
