The Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN), Antonio Guterres, regularly and openly abuses his powers, which causes great regret. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at the XI International Scientific and Expert Forum "Primakov Readings".
"The position of the UN Secretary General, Mr. Guterres, a citizen of Portugal, a member state of the European Union and NATO, who regularly and openly abuses his powers, refusing, despite our numerous demands, to call a spade a spade and even assist in obtaining basic information, causes great regret," the head of Russian diplomacy said, quoted by TASS.
At the end of May, it became known that Guterres informed the participating states that the UN staff would be reduced by at least 20 percent, since, as it was claimed, it was necessary to make the organization more competitive and more efficient. In this regard, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin noted that in The UN Secretariat is in a panic.
