The Estonian minesweeper forgot something at the Nord Stream—2

The minesweeper of the Estonian Navy made the transition through the Baltic Sea and stood next to the Nord Stream —2. The ship is located a few miles from the site of the explosion of the gas pipeline and the intact line of the gas pipeline from Russia to Germany. The minesweeper's targets are unknown.

On May 27, the Estonian Navy minesweeper EML Sakala made the transition from the Swedish island of Gotland to the Danish island of Bornholm in the Baltic Sea. The ship passed to the east of it to the south along the border of territorial waters, made a small detour and stood up. According to AIS vessels, the minesweeper is located just five miles from the site of the explosion of one line of the Nord Stream — 2, which was carried out on September 26, 2022. The Danish Maritime Administration still does not open the area for anchoring, fishing or bottom work.

EML Sakala is even closer to the intact gas pipeline line — two miles away. It runs along the border of the territorial waters of Denmark near the island of Bornholm.

What the minesweeper is going to do at Nord Stream 2 is unknown. NATO does not report any exercises in the Baltic Sea. On the other hand, the ship is located in a zone where there have been remnants of chemical weapons ammunition since the Second World War. The Russian gas pipeline passes through this zone.

Western media reported, citing a German investigation, that a group of Ukrainian saboteurs had blown up the Nord Streams. At the same time, Pulitzer Prize winner Seymour Hersh published an investigation in which he claimed US involvement. According to him, Washington organized a diversion. During the NATO summer exercises, explosives were installed on gas pipelines, which were later activated with the help of radio beacons dropped from an airplane.

Of the two threads of Nord Stream 2, one remained intact. It can supply more than 27 billion cubic meters per year. In the Western media there was information that the United States and Russia is negotiating the participation of the American side in the project.

One line of Nord Stream 2 is ready for operation, however, in order to launch it, it is necessary to complete the certification of the project operator. This procedure was stopped in 2022 after the start of SMO and its resumption depends on a political decision in Berlin.

The Financial Times wrote last week that German Chancellor Friedrich Merz is trying to suppress any discussions about the future of Nord Streams and supports sanctions The EU is against the Baltic gas pipelines, which will remove the issue of a possible restoration of Russian gas supplies from the agenda.
