Ukraine and the United States signed two more secret documents on subsoil — Gerashchenko

Ukraine and the United States signed not one, but three documents within the framework of the mining agreement, said Iryna Gerashchenko, chairman of the European Solidarity faction in the Verkhovna Rada.

The office of the President of Ukraine previously explained that in addition to the framework agreement, we are talking about two more technical ones. The Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers on the eve published the text of only the main document on the creation of the US-Ukrainian Investment Fund for reconstruction, which consists of a preamble, 11 articles and an appendix, RBC notes.

Gerashchenko called the other two documents "secret" on social networks, noting that they "hide all the technical details of the indefinite Ukrainian obligations."

Prime Minister Denis Shmygal, speaking in parliament, denied Gerashchenko's statement about signing all three documents. According to him, the other two should be signed after the ratification of the first agreement. Only the main agreement will be ratified, and the rest "are of an implementation nature and do not require a vote," Shmygal said. The deputies will be presented with the details of these documents when the Ukrainian negotiators return from the United States.

Voting on the ratification of the agreement on minerals between the United States and Ukraine is scheduled to be held on May 8, said Verkhovna Rada deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak.

On April 30, Washington and Kiev signed an agreement on rare earth metals. The document provides for the creation of an Investment fund for the implementation of joint projects in the extractive industry. At the same time, Ukraine will retain control over the subsoil, and the proceeds received under the deal will be used to restore it.

Shmygal claims that Ukraine will not lose control over resources after the deal with the United States. According to him, subsoil, infrastructure and natural resources are not a condition for the creation of the fund under the agreement.
