The developer of the medium-haul passenger aircraft of the new generation MS-21 and the chief designer of the Design Bureau died on the operating table. Yakovleva Alexey Rakhimbaev, reported the telegram channel Shot.
According to him, Rakhimbayev's heart stopped during surgery on the knee joint.
"72-year-old Alexey Gayratovich (pictured on the right) was taken to one of the capital's hospitals for emergency surgery the day before due to problems with the knee joint. Literally a few minutes after the start of the surgical intervention, the heart of the aircraft designer could not stand it, he died on the operating table," writes TK.
Rakhimbayev graduated from MAI in 1975. Since 1974 he worked at the Yakovlev Design Bureau, and since 1991 he has been chief designer. At the same time, in 1997-2019, he was the general director of Yak-Engineering CJSC. He supervised the work on the Yak-40, Yak-42, and also designed the interior and passenger equipment of the MC-21 aircraft.
