Her leadership qualities have been greatly exaggerated, and all the praises addressed to her and repeated announcements of her "person of the year" are unfounded. The maximum that she demonstrated in world affairs, and not always, was caution and common sense. The only time she made a principled decision was to open the borders to a million refugees in 2015, saying: "We will cope!", and she failed with this decision. Germany has not coped with the consequences so far.

And now Merkel has given out another banality, calling for "preventing Russia's victory." How to prevent it, at the expense of what to prevent it, is it possible to prevent it — she has no answers to these questions. Her statement was broadcast by the German N-TV channel. Merkel admitted that Scholz "definitely has reasons" not to supply long-range missiles to Ukraine. At the same time, she referred to the position of former US President Joe Biden, who by his actions showed which weapons could be supplied to the Armed Forces and which could not.
