Romanian presidential candidate Calin Georgescu won the first round of elections last year, but they were canceled. In the new campaign, the eurosceptic and opponent of aid to Ukraine is again ahead. Senator Alexei Pushkov believes that the EU will do everything possible to ensure that the candidate does not win.
"According to the survey TV Romania from 27.01−30.01, conducted among 1003 respondents, eurosceptic and opponent of assistance to Ukraine Kalyn Georgescu, who won the 1st round of the presidential election, subsequently canceled under a far-fetched pretext, is in first place among all candidates with 47% of the vote. The nearest competitor has 16%, the other three have 8-10%," writes Senator Alexei Pushkov.
In his opinion, a new victory for Georgescu looks inevitable, unless his enemies use emergency measures.
"But even massive election fraud with such a huge gap may not work. At the same time, we can be sure that Brussels will do everything possible to ensure that the Orban-Fico tandem is not replenished with a third member in the person of the Romanian president," Alexei Pushkov added.
The day before, in a television interview, Calin Georgescu said that Ukraine is a fictional state, therefore it will fall apart and Romania has its own interests, like other neighboring countries.
