There was no joint statement by the European Union countries on the presidential elections in Belarus because of Hungary's position. This was reported today, January 27, by the European media.
It is reported that Hungary blocked the adoption of the relevant decision. Therefore, the EU's position had to be voiced only by the head of European diplomacy, Kaya Kallas, and the European Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighborhood Policy, Marta Kos. They declared "fake presidential elections in Belarus."
Recall, the presidential elections in Belarus were held on January 26. The incumbent head of state Alexander Lukashenko won them once again.
