At the congress of the Alternative for Germany party in Saxony decided to create a new association instead of the "Young Alternative" under the preliminary name "Patriotic Youth". This is reported by the telegram channel "DW ❶ main".
Thus, as reported, the leadership of the AfD wants to tie the youth organization more strongly to the party. It is planned, in particular, that all members of the "Patriotic Youth" who have reached the age of 16 will also be required to join the parent party - in the "Young Alternative" this rule applies only to board members.
According to experts, the AfD youth organization will be better protected from a possible ban if it ceases to be independent.
In April 2023, the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution (BfV) recognized the "Young Alternative" at the federal level as an organization of a definitely right-wing extremist orientation. Its representative offices in the states of Brandenburg, Thuringia, Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt.
