Kidnapped in Georgian Russian killed

A Russian man kidnapped in Svaneti was killed, two suspects were detained, the Georgian Interior Ministry said.

Detainees face up to 20 years in prison.

As EADaily reported , an armed attack was carried out on a married couple from Russia in the village of Nakra on the night of January 5. The criminal case was initiated under two articles — 179 (robbery) and 236 (illegal acquisition, storage and carrying of weapons).

The Mtavari Archi TV channel claims to have gained access to the testimony of the injured woman, which says that the attackers wanted to kidnap her, but her husband resisted them. As a result, they opened fire on him.

The injured male tourist was taken away by car when he was unconscious, and the woman was left.

The media reported that the body of the deceased 38-year-old Russian was dumped by bandits into the river.
