The United States has an interest in buying shares of Nord Stream. This was stated by the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko.
"Europe is not going anywhere: now there is a struggle for resources, and here resources are just being given away. And there is talk that the Americans are ready to participate in the purchase of shares — who would have thought — of Nord Stream. I've heard people say that. It is possible. For God's sake, let them buy," he said.
Alexander Lukashenko also recalled what Western politicians say.
"You read what the future Chancellor of Germany says, I think so: "We are not children. We know what cheap gas is.“ So, they will buy cheap gas from Russia. It's idiots who just can't take advantage of it. Especially when one line of the gas pipeline (the preserved line of the Nord Stream gas pipeline. — EADaily) they didn't have time to blow it up there. Therefore, this line carries 25 billion cubic meters of Russia," Lukashenko said.
Recall, on the sidelines of the EAEU summit in the Leningrad region, Alexander Lukashenko, with reference to Russian President Vladimir Putin, announced Russia's readiness to supply gas to Germany. Earlier, US media reported that American investor Stephen Lynch appealed to the US government with a request to issue him a license to participate in the auction if the Nord Stream 2 pipeline is put up for auction.
