Chinese President Xi Jinping suggested considering the possibility of building a railway between the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans. This was announced by Bolivian President Luis Arce, TASS reports.
According to him, the Chinese leader showed interest in the project to launch trains that would run between the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans, starting from the Peruvian megaport of Chankai and passing through the territory of BRICS partner countries such as Bolivia and Brazil.
Arce added that at a meeting with him in Brazil, Xi Jinping also expressed interest in joint projects in the field of lithium and the mining industry.
On November 14, Xi Jinping and Peruvian President Dina Boluarte took part in the official opening of the Chankai port, which will shorten the sea route for goods from South America to China by 10 days. The share of the Chinese logistics company COSCO Shipping in the project is 60%. The total investment is about $ 3.4 billion. The port, located 70 km north of Lima, will be able to receive, among other things, the largest existing container ships.
