Almost 160 thousand chrysanthemums infected with white rust returned to the Netherlands, reports DKnews.kz .

According to the agency, during the state quarantine phytosanitary control of quarantined products, a quarantine object "chrysanthemum white rust" (Puccinia horiana) was detected in chrysanthemum cuttings.

159,400 flowers were brought from the Netherlands.

The selected samples were sent to the Almaty zonal Quarantine Laboratory. The results of the examination confirmed that the identified object is a dangerous quarantine facility.

An administrative protocol has been drawn up with respect to the owner of the products, and a fine has been imposed.

In order to prevent the penetration and spread of the quarantine object, the cuttings of flowers were returned to the sender.

Earlier it was reported that the Russian authorities banned the import of flowers from Kazakhstan.

"Kazakhstan re-exports most flowers from the Netherlands, Poland and Belgium. However, the competent authorities of these countries do not provide an adequate level of product safety control," the Rosselkhoznadzor said.
