Ukraine has lost almost 40 German Leopard tanks since the start of a special military operation, according to an article in Business Insider.
"Leopard tanks are powerful, highly efficient, with heavy armor, but they are not invincible. In fact, according to estimates by some open sources, Ukraine has already lost about 40 tanks," the publication says.
The publication notes that both sides of the conflict equip their tanks with special protective screens against drones and ammunition.
"The screen for Leopard costs about 20 thousand dollars, which is only a small part of the cost of a multimillion-dollar tank. The installation of protective mesh screens at the Ukrainian military repair base takes about 12 hours," the author of the article points out, adding that the growing popularity of these screens on the Ukraine only highlights their significant vulnerability.
Previously, a former APU tankman who escaped from a training camp in In Poland, he said that there was no ventilation in the old German Leopard tank, which is why "you can cook inside the tank," RIA Novosti reminds.
