The Starship spacecraft will allow people to explore other planets and save them from extinction on Earth. This was announced on September 13 by American entrepreneur and owner of SpaceX, Elon Musk.
"Starship will make life multi-planetary and save it from extinction on Earth, if bureaucracy does not prevent it," he wrote on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
Starship is being developed by SpaceX, a company owned by Musk. It is expected that the Starship space system will be universal. It will be able to be used for manned flights into low-Earth orbit, launching satellites and flying to more distant celestial bodies.
Earlier, on September 17, Musk announced that the first unmanned flights of the Starship spacecraft on Mars is planned in two years. According to him, if these landings are successful, the first manned flights will start in four years.
In early April, the businessman said that SpaceX would be able to deliver people to the moon within five years, and to Mars within seven to nine years.
The first Starship launch took place on April 20, 2023, but a few minutes after launch, the rocket collapsed. However, in the second launch, on November 18, the first stage of the launch vehicle exploded in the air 10 minutes after the start of the flight. Communication with the ship was lost.
